Ok, anyone have any special tricks for dry frizzy hair... and now with it being so cold, you can add static to that list.

The only conditioner that worked pretty good for me was Kertase but its like $30 for a very small bottle and I have lots of hair.

Looking forward to some alternatives.

Thanks!

If your hair is coarse and can handle a little weight, Carol's Daughter's hair milk is really great.  It's meant to be used on ethnic hair, but it's not too heavy for other types.  If your hair is fine, Make Me Smooth on the mend is great!  And no matter what type of hair you have, Tval's hair rescue will make it soft!

Also, you can try not fully rinsing your conditioner out.  Just leaving a really small amount in your hair can help make it softer and more managable.

Paul Mitchell makes a nice leave-in conditioner - you should try it.

A great combination of shampoo and conditioner I use is Back to Basics. I won a silent auction and I got the combo for Thick Coarse Hair (which I don't have, I just have dyed blonde hair) and that actually worked wonders. I'm not using their repairing formula which is ok but not as good.

Another thing I've been using as a deep pre-treatment before I shampoo is the Monoi de Tahiti oil from Aloha Coconut. I just grease up my hair with it real good and put a shower cap over it and then just go about my morning business. Then shower and shampoo real good. It takes a few uses but you'll see improvement.

Plus, let your hair air dry a while before you blow dry. I find that helps my hair alot too.

Soylady,
Just found this post:-).  You are going to laugh, but, do you remember Nexus's products?  OK, so they were they big shit when I was growing up and then all the new company's came out like matrix and others. Now you can find it at Target, isn't it funny? Cool  Anyway, I have very thick straight hair and once the weather turns in October, the static sets in until summer!  I keep a bottle of Nexus's humectric (sp) I actually rinse with a light conditioner after shampoo, and then when i get out of the shower and start to brush my hair I add a little and rub it in to my hair, brush it through and that takes care of the frizz/static:-)
Hope this helps?

My hairstylist (I trust his word as gold) just told me on Friday that I don't need to use conditioner every time I wash my hair. He told me that the conditioner can actually cause the hair cuticle to stand up causing a dry or frizzy appearance. He told me to go buy a detangler spray to use instead of conditioning every day.  I washed my hair on Tuesday and did not condition (oh was that a hard thing to do) and then used the detangler.  He was right, I didn't have that "frizzy" look on my hair that I thought was dry hair.

Did you use plain old shampoo? What detangler brand did you use?

I've been using "Its a 10" Miracle spray.  I spray it on after washing and you leave it in.  This stuff is amazing and protects your hair too if you straighten.   I also use the Monoi oil on my hair.  Sometimes spray it on at night before bed and also I spray it on my hair when I wear it curly and it keeps the frizzies away.   Afro
