I'm reading "A Thousand Splendid Suns" by the same guy that wrote Kite Runner.  It's ok... I'm having trouble getting into it.  I did love Kite Runner though.

Superpowers by David J. Schwartz - I really like it so far, but I think it might have some 9/11 message.

I'm reading "The 19th Wife" by David Ebershoff.  I heard an interview with him on NPR coming home from work last week, and then found it at a used book store over the weekend.  He's an excellent writer thus far.  I've got the week off, and now that my power house-cleaning is done I'm enjoying reading it.

I just moved to Arizona to be with my boyfriend.  His kids are here and he has a good job so I didn't think it was right to make him move for me.  It's a small town and I'm having trouble find a job...even at the mall.  It's starting to stress me out and depress me... but it's left me with a lot of time for reading.  In July and August so far I have read:

July
40.  "Flipped" by Wendelin Van Draanen 212 pages
41.  "The Long Dark Tea-Time of the Soul" by Douglas Adams 211 pages
42.  "Belle De Jour: Diary of An Unlikely Call Girl" by Anonymous 291 pages
43.  "Mostly Harmless" by Douglas Adams 277 pages
44.  "Animal Farm" by George Orwell 128 pages
45.  "Blood Roses" by Francesca Lia Block 129 pages
46.  "Jack and Jill" by James Patterson 466 pages
47.  "No Place Like Home" by Mary Higgens Clark 472 pages
48.  "The Pawn" by Steven James 427 pages
49.  "M is For Malice" by Sue Grafton 300 pages

August
50.  "R is for Richocet" by Sue Grafton 352 pages

This puts me at my goal of 50 for the year, so I'm upping it to 75.

I'm currently reading K is for Killer by Sue Grafton, Things Fall Apart, and Frankenstein.

I'm taking part in the www.bookcrossing.com challenge of reading the 1001 books to read before you die.  If you aren't a member of bookcrossing you should check it out.  It's a cool community for sharing books.  If you do sign up, my name is Withoutwings.  Put me as the referrer so I can add you as a friend.

The 2008 version of the list, along with my progress can be found on my blog at http://engelsigh.blogspot.com

I just finished two books "Things Fall Apart" by Chinua something.  I don't have the book in front of me, but it's an African man that wrote a lot of books that take place in Africa.... and "The Hours" by Michael Cunningham.  Both are on the 1001 books to read before you die list.

And now I'm reading the second Artemis Fowl book as part of a www.bookcrossing.com bookring.

I finished the Artemis Fowl book and I'm reading "Get Shorty" now by Elmore Leonard.  It's another one of the 1001 books to read before you die.

Just finished reading "Definately Dead" by Charlaine Harris (I'm kind of reading the series backwords at this point since I started with the one that comes after it).

I'm currently working on "Blood Noire" by Laurell K. Hamilton.

Moonstone by Marliee Brothers.  It's a YA fantasy that is pretty funny.
